Virginia Hill’s self-titled debut album features eight original songs, along with a tune contributed by producer Sam Wilson and a haunting live cover of John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery.” Many of the songs were composed while Hill was studying music at the University of Virginia, where she received the Morrison Prize for outstanding undergraduate contribution, but the album has been a labor of love more than two decades in the making.
